What To Expect:
Peru Travel Tour Highlights
Nearly two weeks gives travelers ample time to see the famous highlights of Peru (Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley) as well as some of the lesser known but equally compelling areas, like Arequipa, Colca, Juliaca, and the beautiful Lake Titicaca. Start with two nights in Lima and an introductory tour that will acquaint you with this modern capital city. From Lima, head to Cusco and transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you will spend two nights. Explore the Sacred Valley, then take a scenic train ride to Machu Picchu and spend the night at one of the world’s most fascinating ruins. After plenty of time exploring the “Lost City of the Incas,” head back to Cusco. Stroll the cobblestone streets and learn about this charming colonial city, before continuing to Juliaca, for an overnight stay. The next morning, set out a full day smallgroup sailing journey on Lake Titicaca. Visit the local communities, beaches, and islands between the Chucuito Peninsula, Tacquile Island and Titilaka Hotel. Then, fly to Arequipa, considered the second most important city in the country. Located squarely in the Valley of the Volcanoes at the base of imposing El Misti, Arequipa has lovely colonial architecture and a breathtakingly beautiful location. Drive to Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyon in the world, to see the stepped terraces and, if you’re lucky, the magnificent Andean condors that soar high above you. After two nights in Colca, return to Arequipa for your flight to Lima, where you will connect with your departure flight.
