What To Expect:
Peru Travel Tour Highlights
Just a short plane ride away lie the many wonders of Peru, including the cobblestone charm of Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas and, of course, the mystical beauty of Machu Picchu. Start this family trip in Lima, and get to know the capital city. Your tour of the city will include the historical center as well as the the bohemian district of Barranco. Barranco’s lively, tree-lined streets are brimming with historic mansions, plazas, museums (including the only museum dedicated to displaying permanent works by renowned photographer, Mario Testino), designer boutiques, live music, and plenty of artful flair. Continue the next morning to Cusco, and head to Urubamba, making stops at the Sacred Valley, Pisac and Ollantaytambo along the way. After a two-night stay in Urubamba, take the scenic Vistadome train to Machu Picchu. Two nights at Machu Picchu allows you ample time to explore the “Lost City” in depth and also enjoy your surroundings on day hikes. Take the train back to Cusco, where a walking tour will introduce you to highlights like La Merced Convent, Koricancha, and artistic neighborhoods like San Blas. The following day, set out for the Amazon jungle. Spend the next two days exploring the lush Tambopata National Reserve. Your family can enjoy activities such as challenging jungle treks, enchanting rainforest trails, thrilling treetop canopy bridges, bird watching, plant studies and visits to native communities. On your last day, fly back to Lima for your international departure flight.
