Namibia Travel Tour Highlights
Our Pure Namibia tour is a ultra high-end way of immersing yourself in all of Namibia’s beauty. During your journey you will visit Okonjima and the AfriCat Foundation. Okonjima is home to the AfriCat Foundation, a wildlife sanctuary founded in 1991 that is dedicated to creating conservation awareness, preserving habitat, promoting environmental educational research and supporting animal welfare. Their main focus is Africa’s big cats, especially injured or captured leopard and cheetah. AfriCat runs the largest cheetah and leopard rescue and release program in the world. In the last 17 years over 1 000 of these predators have been rescued with over 85% being released back into the wild. Close encounters with leopard and cheetah are an unforgettable highlight. Activities include leopard tracking by vehicle, a visit to the cheetah welfare project and a visit to the night hide where nocturnal animals such as porcupine, caracal, honey badger and even leopard may be seen. Other trip highlights include: travel with one of Namibia’s most well-known naturalist guides; visit pre-historic rock art at Twyfelfontein, Namibia’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site; track desert-adapted elephants; explore the picturesque Hartmann’s Valleys; visit the ancient Kunene River where it forms the border with Angola; visit authentic Himba settlements in the area; fly along the Diamond Coast viewing shipwrecks, seal colonies, abandoned diamond camps and the giant sand dunes; overnight on an ‘island’ on the Skeleton Coast; visit southern Africa’s largest private nature reserve (NamibRand Nature Reserve); eco-quad-bike (ATV) over giant sand dunes; star-gaze through a state-of-the-art telescope under the guidance on an astronomer; and climb some of the world’s highest free-standing sand dunes.
