Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace
Completed in 1943, this majestic yellow sandstone Art Deco palace was originally constructed for the Jodhpur royal family. Indeed, the 347 rooms do feel fit for a maharaja, and the surrounding 26 acres of gardens, lawns, and courtyards are lovely for an evening stroll.
The impressive lobby has vaulted 100-foot-high ceilings and the guest rooms are equally grand, decorated in a tasteful Art Deco style that emphasizes clean lines — and we love the deep marble bathtubs! Restaurants include the Trophy Bar, Risala, and the Pillars, which offers commanding views of Mahrengarh Fort and the city. Be sure to save time for a dip in the Zodiac Pool or have a cocktail on the terrace, overlooking some of the most impressive gardens in Rajasthan.
