Andaz Prinsengracht Amsterdam
Hyatt adapted Amsterdam’s former city library into the fantastical Andaz Prinsengracht. All luxury and certainly eccentric, live out your surrealist dreams in this five star masterpiece. The atrium sets the tone with Queen of Hearts armchairs arranged beneath giant bell chandeliers. Wander in and out of the royal blue bar, through the restaurant overflowing with traditional Dutch porcelain, and past the canal-side garden’s faceless clocks and frozen figures shouting down the rabbit hole, to your whimsical room. The contemporary design concept is carried throughout the rooms with Lucite headboards, giant fish sculptures and sleek, freestanding tubs and vanities. Rooms with views of the canal and inner garden are particularly special. Step outside and you’ll find yourself directly in the center of the stylish Nine Streets district. Anne Frank’s House is just around the corner, Leidseplein square is a short walk away, as is the Paradiso concert hall and the Rijksmuseum where you can view Rembrandt’s The Night Watch. In standard Hyatt fashion, Andaz has a state-of-the-art, 24 hour gym, a spa and sauna, a lovely bar overlooking the canal called the Bluespoon, and a stylish yet low-key restaurant serving French-infused dishes made with local ingredients.
