Created to support a herd of rescued orphan elephants left after culling operations in Zimbabwe, Camp Jabulani is a bit different than your traditional safari lodge. Camp Jabulani is a five-star Relais & Châteaux accredited luxury lodge. Jabulani, which means “to rejoice,” is named after the first orphan who arrived in 1997. Visitors can bond with the elephants on safari walks, and while watching them swim at the waterhole and roam free in the bush. Other activities include safari drives on the 17000hectare Big Five Kapama Reserve, bush walks, an exclusive visit to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC), canyon helicopter tours and a game of golf. The camp’s six private suites are set along the banks of a seasonal stream. Each suite boasts a private plunge pool and deck from which to watch the elephants and wildlife. Massive wooden doors open on plush interiors with stone soaking tubs, upholstered furnishings, exposed beams and thatch roofs. The Zindoga Villa is perfect for families and groups. There is an on-site gym and spa.
**The Elephant Experience will evolve into an interactive and observational one, where visitors will have the opportunity to meet the elephants as well as view them in close proximity, learning more about their behavior, their unique character traits, their incredible story, and what is takes to take care of a herd of this size. Much of this will take place while the elephants are in their natural environment, foraging in the bush, walking through the reserve or swimming in the waterhole. Photographic opportunities in close proximity of the elephants will also be available to guests**
