Originally named Mosi oa Tunya ("the Smoke that Thunders)" by the locals, the waterfall measures over a mile across and is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Victoria Falls results as the Zambezi River crashes into a natural gorge; because it is on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, it can be experienced from either country. Zimbabwe is also an attractive game-viewing destination, less developed than some of its neighbors. A trip to Victoria Falls and the nearby game parks is easily combined with visits to nearby Botswana or South Africa.
