This program is a perfect introduction to the main attractions of Morocco. Begin with four nights in festive Marrakech, a city of intoxicating charm and character, from the bustling warren of the souks to the tranquil expanses of the Menara and the Majorelle Gardens. During your exploration, visit the city’s excellent Maison Tiskiwin and Dar Si Said museums, both of which display a wealth of traditional art. The excellent Batha Museum also showcases fine art around a lovely garden, with tremendous avocado and banana trees. Spend a day visiting the Atlas mountain villages of the Ourika Valley; this gorgeous alpine region is home to Berber communities who follow a way of life that has changed little over the centuries. From Marrakech, fly to Fes, the ancient imperial city of northern Morocco. Fes is a feast for the senses, with its labyrinthine medina teeming with artisans and merchants. Tour the medina and the diverse neighborhoods throughout Fes El Bali and Fes El Jedid, the old quarters of Fes. A day tour will take you to the neighboring imperial city of Meknes and the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, with its superb mosaics. You may wish to take an optional tour to visit some of the mountain villages outside of Fes. This beautiful region is known for the oak- and cedar-forested mountains dotted with the rough woolen tents of the nomadic Berbers. After thoroughly exploring Fes and the surrounding region, transfer to Casablanca for your international departure. |
