| This program is designed to allow guests to witness the Naadam Festival, a great celebration of traditional Mongolian sports that takes place in July. If you wish to visit Mongolia during Naadam, it is very important to plan ahead, as it has become a very popular tourist attraction and available space fills up quickly. This tour starts in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar where you will see the impressive dinosaur fossils at the Natural History Museum and Gandan Monastery, Mongolia's most important center for Buddhist studies and practice. Drive to Bogdkhan Reserve, a resplendent land of pine valleys, steep cliffs, and rich wildlife. Drive to Hogno Han ger camp and then on to Kharakhorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. Spend two nights here, watching the ceremonies and competitions of the Naadam Festival and touring nearby Erdene Zuu monastery. After the closing ceremonies of the festival, drive back to Ulaanbaatar for a final night before catching your departure flight. | |||
