| The perfect overview of Japan's most popular destinations, this tour begins in Tokyo with a visit to the Tokyo Tower, a traditional tea ceremony at Happo-en Garden, and a visit to the Imperial Palace. There will also be a cruise on the Sumida River, arriving at the heart of the Shitamachi district so that you may see Tokyo's oldest temple -- Asakusa Kannon - and the nearby Nakamise shopping street. After a day at leisure for independent exploration, take an excursion to the scenic Hakone region and enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ashi, with its clear waters reflecting Mt. Fuji. Also take a cable car ride over volcanic hot springs and absorb the spectacular views of Mt. Fuji. Next, take the bullet train to Kyoto, the cultural heart of Japan. An evening tour includes a tea ceremony, tempura dinner, and a cultural performance in the Gion district. Tour Kyoto's main sights, including Nijo-jo Castle with its famous squeaking "nightingale" floors and beautiful surrounding gardens, the exquisite Kinkakuji Golden Pavilion, and the old Imperial Palace. Also visit the Heian Shrine, Sanjusangen-do Temple and its 1001 Buddhist statues, and Kiyomizu-dera Temple with handicrafts and sweets for sale on the busy streets approaching the temple. There will also be a day trip to Nara, the first capital of Japan, to see Tadaji Temple, Kasuga Shrine, and the legendary roaming deer of Nara Park. | |||
