| Tel Aviv, Haifa, Tiberias, Dead Sea, Jerusalem | |||
| Throughout history, the region now occupied by Israel has been a cultural conduit. Its advantageous position between Asia and Africa meant that merchants and soldiers, prophets and pilgrims have, for ages, traveled trading routes that crossed the land. The area bears witness to these and other great empires, whose abundant remains lie scattered across its soil. Begin your journey through time in Tel Aviv, where you will see the sights in the city and neighboring Jaffa for an overview of early coastal settlements. Continue north towards Haifa, and stop en route at Caesarea, Israel’s premier archaeological site. Enjoy a day excursion to Megiddo, positioned along the ancient Via Maris trade route. Travel on to Tiberias where, from that base, you will spend a day in the Upper Galilee and a day at Capernaum, before heading south towards the Dead Sea region. A sunrise hike at Masada, an excursion to Arad, and a swim in the Dead Sea are all included in this spectacular survey of Israel’s archaeology. Your adventure will conclude in the city of Jerusalem, where you may participate in an archaeological excavation just outside this historic city. | |||
