Burma (Myanmar) transports visitors to an ancient Asia of times past, evoking powerful images of exquisite natural beauty, alluring cultural heritage, and some of the warmest smiles you will ever come across. Severely buffeted by the 21st century's winds of change, Burma retains many timeless elements. Discover the Burma that lives beyond the headlines: Buddhist pilgrims gathering at the country's many pagodas; the magnificent remains of Bagan and Mrauk-U; and more. Visit hill stations, pilgrimage sites, craft villages, and beaches. Join in with local people as they celebrate the many festivals of the Burmese Buddhist calendar. Cruise gently along Burma's rivers, the traditional method of traveling between remote outposts. Following are brief descriptions of Absolute Travel's recommended Burma itineraries.
Costs are valid through December 31, 2011; holiday and peak season surcharges may apply.

While such destinations are becoming more difficult to find in our increasingly globalized world, my recent visit to Burma this April provided the authentic experience I'd been seeking. As I explored this land over a span of ten days, Southeast Asia's largest country, and perhaps largest enigma, transported me to an Asia of times past, and I was so grateful to witness it. My days were packed with moments I will never forget. read more
